The XXXI international free-style wrestling tournament of the Grand Prix series Ivan Yarygin has been officially opened in Krasnoyarsk, at the Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace. The tournament participants, guests and spectators were greeted by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss, the Olympic champion, the President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, the Prime Minister of Tyva, Sholban Kara-ool, the General Secretary of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Belcho Goranov.
- I am sure that this tournament, like all the previous ones, will be a great celebration into sports and friendship. I wish to all of us vivid emotions, beautiful victories and new discoveries! - said Alexander Uss. The head of the region added that last December, the Krasnoyarsk Territory celebrated the 85th anniversary of its founding, and that, of course, Ivan Yarygin was and remains one of the most iconic figures of Krasnoyarsk history.
For his great contribution to the development of the region, the governor handed an anniversary honorary sign "85 years of the Krasnoyarsk Territory" to the President of the Interregional Charitable Public Fund for the Promotion of Sports named after Ivan Yarygin, the vice president of the international wrestling organization "United World of Wrestling", Natalya Yarygina.
Mikhail Mamiashvili read the greeting of the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Oleg Matytsin, and wished success to the participants of the tournament.
The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by more than 300 artists - famous performers that have become the landmark of the region, as well as new ones, that have already proved themselves on the international stage of the team. On a large LED screen, viewers saw original video materials about the history of the development of wrestling in the region and its other sports achievements.
